PhD Position in International Economics at Universität Hohenheim

The successful applicant will work within the project “The effect of international trade on job flows, wages, and unemployment: The role of search frictions and firm heterogeneity”.

This project is funded by the Thyssen Foundation. It is co-directed by Prof. Gabriel Felbermayr at Universität Hohenheim (Stuttgart) and by Prof. Julien Prat at IAE Barcelona. The candidate should hold a graduate degree (Master or German Diplom) in economics, preferably with a background in trade theory and/or labor economics. He/she should have good quantitative skills, some training in econometrics, as well as a good command of English. The successful candidate carries out doctoral research. She/he takes part in an international cooperation between IAE Barcelona and Universität Hohenheim. She/he also benefits from the doctoral program offered by Tübingen-Hohenheim Economics e.V., from a close integration into the International Economics Group at Universität Hohenheim, and from the support offered by the FZID Recearch Center.

PhD Student in Mathematical Finance / Financial Risk Modelling, Vienna University of Technology, Austria

We are looking for a Ph.D. student for the broad areas of credit risk models, credit derivatives or general dependence modelling in risk management. The position is in the Christian Doppler Laboratory on Portfolio Risk Management (PRisMa Lab). The laboratory is located within the research group for financial and actuarial mathematics at the Vienna University of Technology, it is headed by Prof. Uwe Schmock. The laboratory is funded by the Christian Doppler Research Association, which is a non-profit association aiming to promote high-quality research, development and knowledge transfer in Austria. The research is carried out jointly with the Bank Austria, the Austrian Federal Financing Agency (ÖBFA) and FJA Feilmeier & Junker. Your main area of activity will be high-quality research in “Modelling, pricing, and hedging counterparty credit exposure” (see the recent Springer book by Cesari et al. with the same title for details), in particular joint modelling of the dependence of market dynamics and default mechanisms, the integration of historical and market implied data, and the development of efficient numerical algorithms for portfolios with complex products, always with a view towards practical applicability.

University of Geneva and United Nations University: International Organizations MBA Scholarships, Switzerland

The University of Geneva and UNU share a strong commitment to capacity development, especially aiming to enhance the capacity of individuals and institutions in developing countries.

In line with UNU’s capacity-development focus, the University of Geneva offers two UNU fellowships every year.

The UNU fellowship covers full tuition, but Fellows need to fund their living expenses in Geneva throughout the academic part of the programme.
