The Programs
Lehigh’s MBA offers both full-time and part-time MBA programs—that Business Week ranks as the fifth top part-time MBA program—consisting of 36 credit hours. While the full-time proposes an accelerated program, the part-time promises a vastly flexible program.
Students of both programs attend classes together. The offered schedule is evening, daytime and weekend, yet most classes are held in the evening.
Lehigh’s MBA also offers joint degrees, MBA & Engineering and MBA-Educational Leadership program. Both programs consist of 45 credit hours. The MBA&E is particularly designed for engineers who wish to create a solid foundation of knowledge in both business and engineering while the MBA-Educational Leadership is meant to build a solid foundation in both business and education for a better educational systems.
The Curriculum
Lehigh’s MBA Curriculum is focusing on the business value chain and the way in which different practical areas come together to generate a competitive advantage. That way, the students may go through a stage of making the right conclusion out of an extensive point of view.
Offering the reflection of real business challenges, the curriculum accentuates strategic management issues and solutions, additional to the rigorous theoretical analysis.
The Faculty
The number of Full-time faculty employed by Lehigh’s MBA is 64 while the adjunct or visiting faculty is 16 and the permanent/tenured professors is 35.
Seeing the students as partners, not only do they teach, but they also energize, provoke, challenge and encourage them. That way, both the faculty and students are on the same path in the effort of developing an integral educational environment.
The faculty members are dedicated people in focusing on the excellence of teaching and progressive research. They also create motivating discussions among the students. Some discussions that would be the key to the students’ success in the near future.
Distance Learning
Lehigh’s MBA offers the students such an advanced technology in pursuing their education using LESN (the Lehigh Educational Satellite Network). Professional students have the opportunity to still keep up with the lessons albeit they are being busy at work. All they have to do is simply attend classes by watching a video monitor transmitting a live broadcast of a class being held on Lehigh University’s campus. It is not a two-way interaction where students can still communicate with the lecturer by phone, fax, computer or whiteboard.
Besides the satellite network, Lehigh also has added web-based streaming-video courses for the distance learning.
The idea is to create a more flexible process of studying. And, there is an additional point; the distance learning is in a way cost-effective. Yet, the quality of teaching remains the same with those attending classes at campus.
