This postgraduate scholarship provides a number of awards up to the value of £1000 – £6000 towards the cost of tuition fees, for students applying for the MSc Marketing and International Management programme. It is available (dependent on eligibility) for 1 year.
This scholarship is sponsored by Telefónica O2 UK Limited, a leading communications company for consumers and businesses in the UK, with 19.1 million mobile customers and over 260,000 fixed broadband customers as at 30 September 2008. The Colombo Plan for Cooperative Economic and Social Development in Asia and the Pacific is a unique inter-governmental organization providing development assistance under the “Planning for Prosperity” motto and the concept of self-help where member countries provide assistance to one another in socio-economic development.
The Colombo Plan was conceived at the Commonwealth Conference on Foreign Affairs held in Colombo, Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) in January 1950 and was established on 1 July 1951 as a cooperative venture for economic and social advancement of the people of South and Southeast Asia. It has grown from the founding group of seven Commonwealth nations – Australia, Britain, Canada, Ceylon, India, New Zealand and Pakistan – to twenty five including non- Commonwealth and countries belonging to the Association of South-East Asian Nations (ASEAN) and South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC). Ranked 12th in the Times Good University Guide 2011, we are a research intensive university with a strong reputation. In the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise, all our 31 subjects were assessed as including world-leading (4*) research and nearly 90 per cent of our research was rated as being internationally recognised.
PhD funding is available in science, arts, humanities and social sciences subjects. Awards vary according to the subject area and range from full studentships covering all fees and a maintenance grant for three years to partial funding.
