The Shell Petroleum Delta Master Scholarships in Petroleum and Geosciences
The Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) of Nigeria is extending its support for educational development in the Niger Delta petroleum exploration area, through a targeted postgraduate scholarship programme to study in UK. The Niger Delta postgraduate scholarship programme begins from the 2010 /2011 academic year, with Ten (10) scholarship offers to student candidates from SPDC’s operational areas in Rivers, Bayelsa and Delta states, to study for postgraduate Master’s qualifications at three top British institutions – Imperial College, London, University College, London and University of Leeds.
The one-year Masters’ programmes are in Petroleum Engineering, Geosciences, Geophysics, Engineering Geology, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Exploration Geophysics and Oilfield Corrosion Engineering. Potential beneficiaries must possess a Bachelor’s degree in the relevant field of study at the Second Class Upper Level. The scholarship will cover tuition fees, one return flight from Nigeria to the United Kingdom and a contribution towards living expenses.
University of Sydney World Scholars 2011
Up to 20 new full tuition fee PhD scholarships are offered per annum for commencing international students. Scholarships cover the full cost of tuition fees for three years. A travel contribution of up to AUD $1,250 each way will also be provided to scholarship holders.
The World Scholars program is for commencing international students from participating countries, undertaking a PhD in any discipline. The application process is highly competitive with scholarships awarded on the basis of research potential and academic merit. Scholarship holders should demonstrate, in their PhD application, an outstanding academic track record and capacity to engage in innovative and world class research.
The Swiss Government Scholarships
The Swiss Government grants a number of arts scholarships to foreign students from a pool of countries, including Kenya, Algeria, Senegal, South Africa, Cameroon, Madagascar, Egypt, Ivory Coast, Tanzania and Tunisia.
Students may undertake Postgraduate study at any Swiss university or Federal Institute of Technology and the listed universities of applied sciences.
For fine arts and music, scholarship holders can attend the respective public schools and conservatories. Proficiency in German, French or Italian is required for studies at a Swiss university or art institution. In some cases a students knowledge of English will also be tested. The scholarships are for nine months.
Symantec Graduate Fellowships 2010 for Master and PhD
Symantec will award Symantec Research Labs Graduate Fellowships to outstanding Ph.D. and M.S. students who meet the eligibility criteria listed below. A key goal of the program is to fund innovative research that has real-world value, in areas of Symantec’s business interests in information security, availability, and integrity.
Fellowship participants also gain first hand research and development experience through guidance and mentorship from a top scientist of Symantec Research Labs during the fellowship period. Each participant is also encouraged to spend a summer working with their mentor at Symantec on a research project in their area of interest.
