The FD Ellis MBA Scholarship 2010 at Durham Business School, UK
Durham Business School is delighted to announce The F D Ellis MBA Scholarship. The scholarship is open to applicants to the full-time MBA programme (to begin study in September 2010) and covers programme fees.
How to apply
The scholarship will be awarded to the applicant who, in the opinion of the panel, is thought best able to contribute to and benefit from completing the full-time Durham MBA. The following criteria will be taken into consideration

Eligibility
To be considered for the FD Ellis MBA Scholarship at Durham Business you must:
- Ensure that your completed scholarship cover sheet and 500-word essay reaches the School by the deadline of 30 April 2010
- Hold an offer for the 2010 Full-Time MBA Programme by 30 April 2010 – please note the admissions process can take up to 4 weeks upon receipt of a fully completed application, so applying early is advised
- Be available to take up your Full-Time MBA Programme place in September 2010
- Be willing to participate and cooperate in public relations activities which the School may organise for the scholarship winner
- Be neither a current or former employee of Durham University
- Be funding your MBA studies yourself
Terms
- The Scholarship covers Full-Time MBA Programme fees only; all other expenses, such as travel and accommodation, shall remain the responsibility of the successful applicant
- Scholarship fees cover standard completion timescale of one year
- The Scholarship is not transferable and not deferrable. It is valid only for use by the competition winner in the academic year for which the Scholarship has been awarded
- There is no cash alternative to be offered if a place on the programme is not taken up, this also applies to uncompleted modules
- Any tuition fee deposit already paid will be refunded in full to the Scholarship winner
- This scholarship award will supersede any existing DBS scholarship offer
Criteria
The scholarship will be awarded to the qualified applicant who, in the opinion of the panel, is thought best able to contribute to and benefit from completing the Durham MBA. The following criteria will be taken into consideration:
- Previous professional and/or academic achievements
- The submitted 500 word essay (a strict 500 word limit will be applied)
- Leadership potential (as demonstrated on the CV/Resume and essay) – only information contained in your CV/Resume and Essay will be used by the judging panel when making their decision
Judging Information
- Decisions will be made by an awarding panel comprising Dr David Ellis (sponsor) and representatives from Durham Business School
- In order to ensure decisions are fair and in accordance with Durham University’s equality and diversity policy all applications are handled only by appropriate School staff and are made anonymous prior to receipt by the awarding panel
- The decision of the panel will be final, no discussion will be entered into
Dates
- The closing date for scholarship applications is 30 April 2010. Results will be communicated to the successful applicant during the week commencing 14 June 2010. The successful applicant will be required to inform the School as to whether he/she accepts the offer of a place and the scholarship by 21 June 2010.
Data Protection Act
- Please note that your scholarship application will be read only by the panel of judges and a team of appropriate staff within the School and will not be passed to any third party
